Military Order of the Stars & Bars, Texas Society
General Lawrence Sullivan Ross, Chapter #184
San Antonio, Texas

JOIN THE MILITARY ORDER OF THE STARS & BARS!

Congratulations on your membership in the Military Order of the Stars and Bars. By joining, you have become the successor of those Officers and descendants who founded our organization 75 years ago in Columbia, South Carolina. As a heritage group, we are dedicated to preserving the memory of the Confederate Officer Corps and the elected or appointed public officials of the Confederacy. Sadly, we live in the age of "political correctness". The true history of the Confederacy and the War Between the States has been significantly distorted - or even erased - to satisfy political objectives. We need good men like you to join us in our ranks and to stand up for those values that we hold dear. We are honored to have you as a fellow member of the Military Order of the Stars and Bars.
Deo Vindice!
Frequently Asked Questions...
When was the Military Order of the Stars and Bars first organized?
On June 10th, 1889, in New Orleans, Louisiana, a group of proud surviving soldiers of the Confederate States of America organized an association called the United Confederate Veterans. Its goals were to protect and defend the honor and dignity of the memory of the Confederate soldier. As the ranks of the aged veterans of the UCV began to thin with the passage of time, a group of the surviving Confederate officers met in Columbia, South Carolina, on August 30th, 1938, to discuss their concerns that the unique contributions made by the Confederate leadership were not properly chronicled in our nation’s history books. They felt a particular duty fell to them as members of the Officers Corps.
Who should I contact for questions about local activities?
Please contact any of the Chapter's Officers listed in the Our Chapter's Officers page for direct inquiries or you can use our Contact Us form.
Where can I get a Member Medal, MOS&B window decal, and other MOS&B items?
Some items are restricted to active members only! Those items and more can be purchased through the MOS&B Member Store.
I joined under one ancestor, but family tradition tells of a connection to Robert E. Lee (or some other noted officer). Can I get a membership certificate showing that connection?
The Military Order of the Stars and Bars accepts collateral relationships for membership. The Collaterals web page has more information about this.
I would like to fly the Confederate flag at my home. What is the proper and respectful way to do that?
The Military Order of the Stars and Bars adopted the Code of Confederate Flag Etiquette in July 2011. It is designed as a guide for those who respect The South and want to know how to properly use and display the Confederate flag and other symbols of The South. If Southerners will not respect the Confederate flag, then how can we expect others to respect it? We hope that this Code of Confederate Flag Etiquette will be adopted by Southern organizations and individuals as a guide to respecting and honoring the symbols of our beloved South and those who sacrificed and died to defend her.
