Chapter 184 Logo

"We, the posterity of the Officer Corps and Civil Officials of the Confederacy, do pledge ourselves to commemorate and honor the service of leadership these men rendered in the cause of fundamental American principles of self-determination and states' rights and to perpetuate the true history of their deeds, for the dedication of ourselves, our society, and for generations yet unborn."

- Pledge of the MOS&B, August 30th, 1938

    Welcome

The Military Order of the Stars and Bars is a fraternal organization comprised of the descendants of the military and governmental leadership of the Confederacy. The MOS&B was founded in 1938 by seventeen former Confederate officers and forty-seven male descendants of Confederate officers. The Texas Society is the largest society within the Order. We are very proud of our members' dedication to duty. In efforts to fulfill our duty to our ancestors and to the Military Order of the Stars and Bars, Texas Society members participate in a number of activities. Historical reenactments, parades, monument dedications, and educational presentations are just a few of our many activities. The Texas Society is also preparing to offer its first-ever scholarship. We also offer support by any means possible to the national headquarters. Many of the current and past national leaders have come from the Texas Society.

Boasting over 54 qualified members, the General Lawrence Sullivan Ross, Chapter #184, is the official chapter, the largest and longest-serving MOS&B chapter of the San Antonio area. Many of our members have served as Texas Society and National MOS&B Officers and members of the organization's general staff. Chapter #184 also has the distinction of holding several MOS&B Awards, including the prestigious MOS&B National Colonel Walter Hoptkins Distinguished Chapter Award, multiple MOS&B National Lieutenant General Simon Buckner 100% Retention Awards, and is recognized by the Texas Society MOS&B as its Distinguished Chapter and Gold-Star Chapter.
